12/17/2024 – 3rd update of the season – Christmas Party/Mock Novice Tournament

Practice Schedule:

  • Monday(12/16) – NORMAL PRACTICE TIMES
  • Tuesday(12/17) – NORMAL PRACTICE TIMES
  • Wednesday(12/18) – Wednesday we will get together at the HIGH SCHOOL for our yearly *white elephant gift exchanges*. These will be held in Gym A on one of the HS’s competition wrestling mats.
    – Little hammers gift exchange 545-615
    – Novice gift exchange 615-715
    – Open/Elite gift exchange 715-815
  • Thursday – (12/19) – NO PRATICE – BUT I encourage everyone to come to WRHS for our home dual against 6A #1 Ranked Garden City!!!!!! It starts at 630pm and will feature 14 matches from some of the best wrestlers in the state from both teams! We expect to have a large and raucuous crowd and word on the street is that Santa is making an appearance!!!!!
  • Friday – Satellite weigh in for Warrior Clash. WE ARE NOT HOSTING A WEIGH IN – Satellite options here
  • Monday(12/23) – NO PRACTICE KSHSAA WINTER MORATORIUM ALL SCHOOLS CLOSED
  • Tuesday(12/24) – NO PRACTICE KSHSAA WINTER MORATORIUM ALL SCHOOLS CLOSED

  • Friday (12/27) – Novice 6pm-715pm Open + Elite Mixed 715pm-830pm
  • Saturday(12/28) – **Mock Novice Tournament** ALL TBT WRESTLERS WELCOME TO WRESTLE
  • Saturday(12/28) – Weigh in for Santa Fe Trail tournament during Mock Novice Tournament @ WRMS

FULL PRACTICE SCHEDULE WEEK OF 12/30/24 – 1/2/25

*White elephant gift exchange explained* Everyone will need to bring a wrapped gift valued at no more than $10. If for whatever reason you will not be able to get a wrapped gift in time, NO WORRIES JUST TEXT JOSHUA 785-213-0412 OR HEATHER 785-844-0719 and we will make sure your child has a gift to play. WE ALWAYS BRING ENOUGH EXTRAS BUT A HEADS UP MAKES SURE WE WE ARE COVERED!

  • Little hammers – Everyone will circle up on the mat with the presents in the middle. We will have the kids draw numbers and take turns 1 by 1 in number order picking out a gift. They will all wait patiently with their gifts until all have picked and then we will open them all at once. NO STEALING/TRADITIONAL GAME PLAY WITH THE LITTLE HAMMERS.
  • Novice & Open/Elite: Both the novice group + the Open/Elite group will play by the same rules. We will circle up and put all gifts in the middle. We will draw numbers. #1 goes 1st. When it is your wrestlers turn, they can pick a wrapped present from the middle OR steal an opened present from another wrestler. Each present can be picked from the center once and then stolen up to 2 times. After that it cannot be stolen again(unless the #1 wants it at the end). If you have your present stolen, it will be your turn again to pick or steal before the next number goes. At the end, the person who drew #1 can choose ANY PRESENT THEY WANT NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES IT WAS STOLEN. This is fun game but it can cause some extra emotion in the children(not getting toy the want, being stolen from, etc.) As much as it is fun it is also a great learning/growth experience for the kids and we will all help them get through it 🙂

**Mock Novice Tournament Explained** We do this every year to give our younger newer wrestlers a chance to run through the motions of competition in a familiar and less crowded environment than a traditional tournament. I will post a signup

Tidbits:

  • Practice packs and sublimated gear are in the mail. They come from Pakistan so it takes a while to get through customs and here but they are OTW. I will keep you updated.

Tournament Schedule: TENTATIVE – IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED THAT 1ST YEAR WRESTLERS COMPETE UNTIL AFTER THE NEW YEAR!!!

  • OFFICIAL TEAM TOURNAMENTS IN BOLD – CAN GUARANTEE SUFFICIENT COACHING
  • NON OFFICIAL TEAM TOURNAMENTS – CANNOT GUARANTEE SUFFICIENT COACHING
  • If available, flyers and/or registration for tournaments will be attached via hyperlinks below.
  • Signup for tournaments should be done sooner than later as tournaments will FILL FAST and once they are full there is not getting any extras in!
  • Message me on discord if you have questions about tournaments and I will be happy to share my knowledge/opinions!
  • ONE BIG CHANGE THIS YEAR IS ALMOST ALL TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION WILL BE ON YOUR OWN!!! WHILE I AM HESITANT TO DO THIS(LOTS TO MESS UP) IT IS BEEN ONE OF THE BIGGEST HASSLES FOR ME TO KEEP UP WITH THROUGH THE SEASON. SEAMAN JR. VIKING TOURNAMENT + TOP TOWN THROW DOWN(TBT TOURNAMENT) + DISTRICTS + STATE WILL BE THE ONLY TOURNAMENTS THAT YOU WILL SIGNUP UP FOR THROUGH THE TBTWC WEBSITE.
